5 things to consider when travelling to the Maldives
1️⃣ You may think that travelling to the Maldives is insanely expensive, however there are lots of local islands that you can visit on a budget. Accommodation and tours are way cheaper and you can even book day trips to resorts if you want to experience the luxury of the Maldives. Thulusdhoo is a great option and just a 30 minute boat ride from the airport.
2️⃣ You always need a transfer by domestic flight/speed boat/seaplane to get to the islands/resorts. The travel time varies depending on how far the resort is located from Male. A speedboat is usually cheaper than the sea plane but takes a bit longer and is more of a hustle.
3️⃣ There is a lot to do in the Maldives. When I first thought about travelling to the Maldives I was scared I‘d be bored being on a tiny island. However, there were so many things to do, I couldn‘t fit them all in! At @reethifaru resort where I stayed there are tons of activities like a dolphin cruise and sand bank trip with @reethifaruwatersports. There are lots of snorkeling trips, boat trips, watersports activities. There‘s diving, free house reef snorkeling every day, events and many more. When planning your trip to the Maldives make sure to plan enough time for some activities as well as relaxation.
4️⃣ The underwater life is amazing! I honestly wasn‘t into snorkelling before my trip to the Maldives but that was probably because I haven‘t seen a healthy coral reef before. You can swim with sharks, stingrays, turtles, mantas and so many more, no matter if you‘re doing trips from local islands or resorts. The house reef at @reethifaru was amazing! You can see so many different fish, it‘s incredible 😍
5️⃣ As you can imagine, the Maldives are not an eco-friendly destination, however, you can reduce your footprint when travelling to a sustainable resort. @reethifaru is one of them and has some great initiatives and conservation programs 😍
